A 14-year-old girl died after she and another teenage girl were attacked by an unidentified man with wielded a knife on their way to school in southwestern Germany on Monday, local broadcaster SWR reported, citing police.
Earlier, a police spokesperson confirmed that two girls had been injured in an attack in Illerkirchberg, a town of around 5,000 people west of Munich.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police found that a suspect had fled into a neighboring building, Wolfgang Juergens, spokesperson for police in the German city of Ulm, told local broadcaster SWR.
He pointed out that the people inside the building have been taken into custody, without identifying how many people had been found and whether any of them were the suspected attacker.
“Everything further will come out of the ongoing investigation,” he said.
