An Argentine woman said that electricity was cut off from about 20 million Argentine residents as a result of a technical malfunction in the work of the Atocha nuclear power plant, since yesterday, Wednesday.
Argentine newspaper "La Nacion" reported that the malfunction was caused by a fire in the power transmission lines, which caused the emergency shutdown of a number of power stations.
The newspaper pointed out that the incident affected residents of the capital, Buenos Aires, and a number of other regions.
Electricity may be restored within 48 hours.
The paper did not mention the damage to the infrastructure of the Atocha nuclear power plant.

The runaway inflation has left many in the country mired as they turn to barter and parallel currency markets amid dwindling Central Bank reserves, a bloated fiscal deficit, and a looming debt bomb.
