Tebboune thanks president Putin for accepting Algeria's mediation in Ukraine crisis

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune thanked his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, for Moscow's acceptance of Algeria's proposal to mediate in the Ukraine crisis. 

Tebboune said that his visit to Moscow comes within the framework of the efforts made by the two countries to consolidate bilateral relations and enhance the pace of cooperation.

He added, "The talks with President Putin were fruitful, frank and sincere, reflecting the level of distinguished political relations between the two countries and affirming the common will to continue the traditional political consultation."

He continued, "Of course, as friends, we touched on bilateral relations in various fields and ways to enhance them, and we exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern ."

The Algerian president noted, "I record our satisfaction with the consensus of visions regarding the files that we discussed in our talks, including the issue of the conflict in the Western Sahara, the situation in the Sahel region, the Palestinian issue, and developments in the Middle East region."

Tebboune also thanked Putin for Russia's support to Algeria's candidacy for joining the BRICS group
