Welsh actor Taron Egerton has recently joined the upcoming romance-thriller movie "Stars At Noon".

The actor is stepping in for Robert Pattinson, who dropped out of the project due to conflicting shooting commitments.

The movie is based on the 1980s Denis Johnson novel of the same name and does not yet have a release date.

"Stars At Noon" is set in Nicaragua amid a period of violence and political turmoil and follows a female reporter (Margaret Qualley), who gets entangled with an English businessman (Egerton), after the two meet at a decaying hotel bar.

The movie is produced by France’s Curiosa Films, in co-production with Brazil’s RT Features.

A24 has the U.S. rights to the project, while Canal+ and Arte have French TV rights. Wild Bunch International has launched sales of the movie in Cannes this week.

Development on the movie was first announced in April 2019, when its director, Claire Denis, stated that she would be helming the project.

She will be collaborating with screenwriters Lea Mysius and Andrew Litvack on the script.

Egerton will next be seen in the Apple series "In With The Devil" and Jon S. Baird’s big-screen treatment of "Tetris".
