Afghanistan's Ministry of Defense has announced that the Taliban is looking to acquire Russian air defense systems and aerial surveillance equipment in the future, under favorable conditions.
Recently, a senior Taliban delegation visited Moscow to attend a defense weapons exhibition.
A high-ranking official from the Taliban's Ministry of Defense revealed that, while their forces currently use American weapons and equipment to secure the Afghan borders, they require additional resources to monitor and protect their airspace.
The Taliban is interested in procuring Russian-made equipment for air defense and surveillance, aiming to enhance their capabilities in these areas.
The official noted that while the Taliban has ground-based equipment, there is a significant need for advanced air defense technology.
Previously, Russian intelligence agencies supplied the Taliban with arms and equipment during their insurgency against US forces in Afghanistan.
The move reflects the Taliban's ongoing efforts to bolster their defense capabilities with international support.
