On Sunday, A European official in Kabul said the Taliban authorities have not promised to reopen schools and universities for girls and women during the new academic year.
The European Union's special envoy to Afghanistan, Thomas Nicholson, mentioned that he had not heard any "clear commitment" from Taliban ministers during his meetings.
"Opening schools and universities to provide quality education for boys and girls, women and men is not optional," he said in a press conference, explaining that it is necessary to invest in the future, in the next generation, in a better Afghanistan, and moreover, it is a procedure, it is the request of all Afghans.
It is noteworthy that since the Taliban returned to power in August 2021, Afghanistan has become the only country in the world that refuses to educate women.
The Taliban initially banned teenage girls from attending classes after the sixth form.
Then, last December, women's education was suspended until further notice, and the Taliban attributed this to what it described as a violation of Islamic dress codes and co-education.
In addition, women were banned from working in many jobs, including working for non-governmental organizations.
