Talaat, S. Korean Ambassador Discuss ICT Enhancement Cooperation

Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) discussed on Friday with S. Korean ambassador to Cairo Hong Jin-wook ways to enhance cooperation.

The meeting touched on cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence, capacity building, electronics industry, establishment of centers of excellence and outsourcing services.

The two parties reviewed cooperation initiatives in the field of education, whereby scholarships were awarded to distinguished graduates from the Faculties of Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology to obtain a professional master’s degree from major international universities, within the framework of the “Digital Egypt Builders”.

Means of cooperation were also discussed through the Misr Informatics University, which is being established in the Knowledge City of the New Administrative Capital, with the aim of graduating cadres specialized in the field of communications and information technology, especially since South Korea owns universities among the top 100 universities in the world.

In this context, bachelor's programs will be offered in the field of industrial engineering in the Egyptian-Korean higher institute for technology.

The meeting also dealt with the state’s efforts to stimulate Korean companies to invest in Egypt in outsourcing, innovation centers, design and manufacture of electronics, artificial intelligence, the Internet of things and super-computing, and electronic waste management.
