Tajani: Italy Seeks to Sign Co-op Deals with Energy Exporting Countries

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani affirmed his country's aspiration to hold  consultations with Egypt in the energy sector, because it is an issue of concern to Europe.

In a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry, he explained that his country has an important role to play in solving the energy problem and seek to conclude cooperation agreements with energy-exporting countries, including Egypt.

On his part, Shoukry explained that the joint talks touched on economic cooperation relations, as trade exchange reached about EGP 5 billion, indicating Egypt's aspiration for more Italian investments and further cooperation, within the framework of the common interest of both sides.

In addition, FM affirmed that it was agreed to enhance cooperation in the field of energy and investment through the Italian forum to be held in Cairo and to activate the role of the Egyptian-Italian Business Council during the coming period.

Furthermore, Shoukry pointed out that Egypt is qualified to be a partner of Italy in the eastern Mediterranean region.
