Dr. Mohamed Tag El Din, the Presidential Advisor for Health Affairs and Prevention, said, Wednesday, that the new variant EG.5.2 is weaker than the previous mutations.

He added that the new variant doesn't need further protective procedures.

The official highlighted in his phone interview with "Sabah El Kher Ya Masr," broadcasted on Egyptian Channel 1, that there is an accurate detective process for viruses and mutations.

Tag El-Din reflected that the majority of those symptoms are simple and moderate, adding that the patient needs to stay at home for 2 or 3 days, and stick to simple medications, without having any antibiotics.

First two cases of new Covid-19 variant EG-5.2 have been detected in Egypt on Tuesday, Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday.

In a statment, the ministry added that The patients suffer from mild symptoms and show signs of recovery.

While the pandemic may seem like a distant memory to many, coronavirus continues to spread with new cases increasing due to the latest mutated strains of the virus, according to 'Euronews' website.

A new subvariant of COVID-19 called EG.5 is increasing in Europe after first being identified earlier this year.
