Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa has denied belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood, stressing in remarks published Tuesday by Kuwait’s Al-Nahar newspaper that he was the “biggest victim” of ISIS.

Failed Ideologies in the Region

Al-Sharaa stated that “all nationalist and Islamist ideologies in the region have failed,” underscoring that Syria must pursue its own path forward based on national unity.

Kurdish and Druze Issues Within Syrian Unity

The president rejected any notion of separatism inside Syria, saying such calls “will remain nothing more than dreams.” He emphasized that solutions with Kurds and the Druze community of Sweida are possible, but only “within the framework of Syria’s unity.”

He added that “all solutions with Kurds and Sweida can be discussed except separation,” highlighting that the state’s policy is “based on tolerance, not revenge.”

On Relations With Israel

Regarding Israel, Al-Sharaa reiterated that ties are strictly linked to the return of the Golan Heights and the implementation of the 1974 disengagement agreement. “There is no room to talk about peace before that,” he stressed.

Regional Positions

Al-Sharaa rejected interference in Lebanon’s internal affairs and dismissed the notion of a “river of fire” separating the two countries. He also praised Iraq’s political and economic stance, while affirming that Syria is “heading toward a renaissance.”

“Our country is strong in itself and through its alliances,” he concluded.
