The Syrian army air defenses repelled, late Wednesday, an Israeli missile aggression on southern region, shooting down most of the hostile missiles.
"The Israeli enemy perpetrated an air aggression from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan with air-to-surface and surface-to- surface missiles against some targets in the southern region," SANA News Agency said.
Residents in the capital Damascus reported hearing the sound of explosions.

State media stated that the explosion sounds were those of the Syrian air defenses responding to the incoming missiles in the south.
Two weeks ago, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) carried out a series of airstrikes on several sites in Syria.
The Syrian air defenses confronted the Israeli attack in the city of Hama.
“At about four o’clock in the morning today, the Israeli enemy launched an aerial aggression with a barrage of missiles coming from the direction of the Lebanese city of Tripoli, aiming at some targets in the vicinity of Hama governorate,” Syrian state media said, citing a military source.
“Our air defenses confronted the enemy’s missiles and downed most of them.”
Syria witnessed several explosions in January, which killed dozens of people.
Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) announced that a suspected car bomb detonated in Afrin, killing 5 people, including a child and left 15 others wounded.
Additionally, Azaz region of Aleppo, northwest Syria witnessed another car explosion, which left behind 6 dead and more than 39 injured.
SOHR has also monitored a violent explosion that hit the city of Tal Abyad, which is under the control of the Turkish forces and the factions loyal to them in the northern countryside of Raqqa, Syria.
The explosion took place in a market near the municipality roundabout within the city, which caused casualties, as three people were killed and wounded seven others were injured, as a preliminary outcome.
