Syrian air defense systems responded to Israeli airstrike in Hama province, as it targeted warehouses of the Iranian militia, Thursday night near the city of Masyaf, according to the Syrian state news agency (SANA)

The Syrian Ministry of Defense issued a statement saying Israel “launched an aggression by directing a barrage of rockets” from the north of the Lebanese city of Tripoli towards the Masyaf area. It said Syrian air defence “confronted the enemy missiles and intercepted most of them.”

"An alleged Israeli airstrike targeted the Syrian Scientific Studies and Research Center in the Masyaf area from north of Tripoli in Lebanon," the statement claimed that air defenses succeeded in intercepting most of the missiles, according to SANA.

Although IDF Spokesperson's Unit has not yet responded to the reports, the airspace over the Golan Heights east of the Jordan River was closed to flights over 5,000 feet until December 31.

SANA has previously reported that air defenses confronted Israeli aerial aggression in the southern region and downed a number of missiles.

A military source told SANA that “ at about 03:11 a.m. on Wednesday, the Israeli enemy launched an aerial aggression from the direction of the occupied Golan that targeted the southern region as the Syrian air defenses confronted it and downed a number of rockets.”

The source added that “three soldiers were martyred in the aggression, and a soldier was injured, in addition to causing material damages.”

Throughout the years of the terrorist war waged against Syria, the Israeli forces have launched many aerial acts of aggression, and the Syrian air defenses have confronted them and downed most of the missiles before reaching their targets, according to SANA.
