In a precision strike against organized crime, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday that its security forces successfully executed a "special security operation" within the city of As-Suwayda. The mission resulted in the rescue of three civilians who had been held captive by armed groups described by the ministry as "outlaws."

The rescued individuals—identified as Anwar Abdul Latif Shuqair, Murad Ahmed Issa, and Ali Muhammad Awad—were safely extracted from the city and reunited with their families. According to official statements, the hostages are in good health.

A Crackdown on Lawlessness This operation marks a significant move by the Syrian transitional government, led by Prime Minister Ahmed Al-Sharaa, to assert state authority in regions long plagued by security vacuums. The Interior Ministry emphasized that the raid was carried out with "the highest tactical standards" to ensure the safety of the captives and minimize collateral damage in the residential areas of As-Suwayda.

For months, the province of As-Suwayda has struggled with a rise in kidnapping-for-ransom schemes and general lawlessness. The Ministry’s statement sent a clear warning to criminal factions: "The security and safety of citizens is a red line."

Commitment to Further Rescues The local security command in As-Suwayda reiterated its commitment to dismantling gangs involved in kidnapping and intimidation. "Our work is far from over," a security spokesperson stated. "We are utilizing all available means to track down remaining criminal cells and ensure that every kidnapped citizen is returned home."

As Syria undergoes a delicate political transition, the success of such security operations is seen as a vital test for the new administration's ability to restore domestic stability and the rule of law across all provinces.
