At least 10 oil workers were killed and one was injured in a bus attack in Syria’s eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, state news agency SANA revealed on Thursday.
“Ten workers at the Al-Kharata oil field were martyred and another was wounded in a terrorist attack on a bus transporting them back from work,” SANA reported.
Some reports claim that ISIS is responsible for the terrible attack
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said an explosive device was used in the bus attack in an area of Deir Ezzor where “ISIS sleeper cells are active”
SOHR also pointed out that Al-Kharata oil field lies 20 kilometers (12 miles) southwest of Deir Ezzor city.
On his part, Deir EzZor Governor Fadel Najjar stated that the workers were intercepted by an armed terrorist group and assaulted during their return. He added that the injured worker was transferred to the hospital.
In the same vein, the governor affirmed that there are some people who do not want a calm and normal life in Deir EzZor as the province witnessed an increasing demand regarding settlement seekers.
