Switzerland has signaled its readiness to help facilitate a peaceful settlement to the Ukraine crisis, Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis said.

Speaking to the Russian newspaper Izvestia, Cassis said Switzerland remains available to both sides to support efforts toward a negotiated solution, following its hosting of trilateral talks earlier this year.

He said Switzerland is willing to continue providing a platform for dialogue and contribute to substantive discussions aimed at advancing peace efforts, while noting that any final decision rests with Russia and Ukraine.

Earlier diplomatic efforts included three rounds of talks involving Russia, Ukraine, and the US, with the latest held in Geneva on 17 and 18 February.

However, progress has stalled in recent weeks. Dmitry Peskov said in March that negotiations had been paused as the US shifted focus to other issues, while indicating that Moscow is awaiting a new round of talks, with no date or venue yet confirmed.

Switzerland’s offer reflects ongoing international attempts to revive diplomatic channels and restart negotiations aimed at ending the conflict.
