Switzerland has expressed its readiness to host diplomatic negotiations aimed at resolving tensions between the US and Iran, according to the Swiss Foreign Ministry.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Melanie Gugelmann said Switzerland is “always ready to offer its good services” when asked about reports suggesting that Geneva could serve as a venue for potential talks.
She added that Switzerland is prepared to support “any diplomatic initiative aimed at facilitating peace,” stressing that the Foreign Ministry remains in continuous contact with all parties involved in the conflict.
The comments come amid reports from Axios, citing unnamed sources, that Washington and Tehran are nearing agreement on a brief memorandum intended to end the armed confrontation. According to the report, further negotiations on the details of a possible deal could be held in either Geneva or Islamabad.
Switzerland has long played a neutral mediating role in international diplomacy, often acting as an intermediary in sensitive negotiations between rival states.
