A joint delegation from Sweden and Finland visited the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing on Wednesday to observe the flow of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, as Egypt continues its diplomatic and relief efforts to address the crisis.
The visit highlighted long lines of aid trucks waiting to enter Gaza through the Karm Abu Salem crossing. The renewed movement of humanitarian assistance follows the announcement last October of a peace plan that paved the way for the resumption of aid deliveries.
The delegation’s presence on the ground provided an opportunity to directly assess operational procedures and logistical arrangements. Field inspections offer a clearer picture than written reports or remote briefings, allowing officials to monitor the aid process and identify challenges in real time.
North Sinai officials briefed the delegation on the crossing’s readiness to process between 600 and 1,000 aid trucks daily, demonstrating Egypt’s continued efforts to facilitate humanitarian access while coordinating with international partners to maintain stability and ensure sustained aid delivery.
