Denmark confirmed on Friday that it has accepted Sweden’s offer to provide anti-drone systems, just days before next week’s European Union summit in Copenhagen.

The move follows reports of unidentified drones flying over Danish airports, raising security concerns.

The Danish Ministry of Defense announced that Sweden had offered military capabilities to counter unmanned aerial vehicles, and Denmark accepted the proposal immediately.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said he had spoken with his Danish counterpart Mette Frederiksen, earlier in the day to extend the offer, noting recent drone activity across several countries.

Nearly 40 heads of government are expected to attend the upcoming EU summit in Copenhagen on Wednesday, heightening the need for tighter air security.

Sweden has recently invested heavily in air defense systems. Defense Minister Pål Jonson confirmed that the country has committed more than 10 billion kronor (about 1.06 billion dollars) in recent months to strengthen capabilities against drones and aircraft, underlining its growing focus on counter-drone technology.
