Sweden has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth €7.3 billion, reinforcing its long-term commitment to supporting Kyiv in its ongoing war against Russia.
The Swedish government revealed on Thursday that it will allocate 80 billion kronor (€7.3 billion) in military assistance across 2026 and 2027. This will increase Sweden’s annual contribution to 40 billion kronor during those years.
Defense Minister Pål Jonson stressed the enduring nature of Sweden’s support during a press conference, noting that the aid will remain vital regardless of future developments. He underlined that Swedish backing would continue even if a ceasefire or peace agreement were reached.
Jonson also unveiled details of a new 2025 aid package, which includes 18 Archer artillery systems, ammunition, long-range drones, naval equipment such as coastal radar systems and diving facilities, as well as air defense systems.
According to the Kiel Institute, Sweden ranks as the fifth-largest donor to Ukraine among EU member states relative to its GDP, underscoring its strong commitment to Kyiv’s defense.
