Sweden Detects First Case of New Mpox Strain

Sweden has reported the first case of the new strain of monkeypox (Mpox) outside Africa, following the World Health Organization's declaration of the virus as a global health emergency.

The Swedish Public Health Agency confirmed that a person in Stockholm required medical care and was diagnosed with Mpox caused by the newly identified strain, Clade 1.

This case is the first instance of this particular strain being detected outside the African continent.

The World Health Organization has recognized the spread of Mpox as a global health concern, prompting international health responses.

The number of reported cases this year has exceeded 15,600, with 537 deaths occurring in the Democratic Republic of Congo and neighboring countries.
