Slovakia confirmed on Saturday the immediate suspension of Russian gas imports will turn into a "serious problem" for the European Union (EU) countries.
On Saturday, the German embassy in the United States (US) announced an agreement with the European Union to end dependence on Russian energy as soon as possible.
"Germany, together with the entire European Union, has decided to get rid of dependence on Russian energy as quickly as possible," the embassy tweeted.
"We have pushed for an EU-wide coal ban by August of this year, and we will end Russian oil supplies by the end of the year, and gas will follow," the embassy added.
