A 20-year-old man armed with knives set off explosive devices aboard a high-speed train in Germany, injuring multiple passengers before being subdued by fellow travelers, police said.
Authorities said the suspect detonated improvised devices inside the train, leaving at least 12 people with minor injuries. Passengers managed to overpower him and lock him inside a restroom until police arrived. Officers confirmed the suspect was carrying two knives at the time of the incident.
The attack occurred late Thursday on a train bound for Frankfurt am Main, prompting the evacuation of around 180 passengers.
Police said an investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the attack. German media reports indicated the suspect had expressed an intent to kill, while witnesses said the explosive devices contained plastic pellets.
Emergency services responded quickly, and officials continue to assess the circumstances surrounding the incident.
