Ahmed Kamal, a spokesman for the Ministry of Supply, confirmed that there is no shortage of any strategic commodity, stressing that there are discounts at "Ahlan Ramadan" outlets, ranging between 25% and 30%.
Kamal added that the prices of sugar in the exhibitions amounted to EGP 10, flour at EGP 8, rice at EGP 9, pasta at EGP 9.
The price of Sudanese meat reached EGP 95 per kilo, Brazilian frozen meat at EGP 80 and frozen poultry at EGP 48 per kilo.
He said that the Prime Minister assigned the government to raise the degree of readiness to receive the month of Ramadan and provide basic commodities to citizens, adding that the number of “Ahlan Ramadan” outlets has reached 8000 outlets and more than 200 others belonging to the Ministry of Supply, as well as 1,300 consumer complexes to provide strategic goods at reduced prices.
He pointed out that the distribution of supplies to citizens will start April 1, explaining that the total beneficiaries reached 64 million citizens, with 22 million cards.
