UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced that he has landed in Israel on Thursday before heading to other countries in the region on a two-day tour aimed at brokering a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.

In a statement, Sunak emphasized that the attack on the Al-Aqsa Hospital must be a pivotal moment for leaders in the region and around the world to work together to avoid further dangerous escalation of the conflict.

He added that he will ensure that his country is at the forefront of these efforts.

The statement further indicated that Sunak's Middle East tour will last two days, during which the prime minister will underscore the importance of not allowing the brutal terrorism practiced by Hamas and its disregard for human life to become an incentive for further conflict in the region.

It is expected that during his tour, Sunak will emphasize the need for the international community to facilitate humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza and enable British citizens stranded in the region to depart safely.

Sunak's visit coincides with a trip by UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly to Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar in the coming days, as Downing Street seeks to engage with regional stakeholders to address the Gaza crisis.
