Sunak Says Egypt One of UK's Key Partners in Middle East

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi received UK Prime Minister (PM) Rishi Sunak, on the sidelines of the COP27 World Climate Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, according to Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady.

At the outset of the meeting, Sisi welcomed the British PM's visit to Egypt, on his first foreign visit, stressing Egypt's aspiration to maximize bilateral cooperation during the coming period, enhance political coordination, and exchange visions on various files of common interest.

On his part, Sunak expressed admiration for the successful and distinguished organization of the global climate summit by Egypt, praising the close ties between both countries, and the unprecedented momentum witnessed by the bilateral relations over the past years, especially in economic and trade fields.

Moreover, he also stressed that Egypt is one of Britain's most important partners in the Middle East, in light of what it represents as a fundamental pillar of stability and security in the region.

Furthermore, the meeting discussed the joint efforts of the two countries to support and enhance climate action at the regional and international levels, as well as ways and prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries at various levels.
