In a major milestone for Egypt’s industrial sector, Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems Egypt, a subsidiary of the global Japanese conglomerate Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems Europe, inaugurated a state-of-the-art production facility in 10th of Ramadan City. The event featured appearances by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and senior government officials.
In his address, Ryoji Roshikata, Chairman of Sumitomo Global, expressed deep appreciation for the support provided by the Egyptian government and people, calling the company’s journey in Egypt “exceptional in every way.”
“Today, we proudly celebrate the opening of one of our most advanced factories,” Roshikata said. “This achievement underscores our commitment to expanding our industrial presence and contributing to Egypt’s economic growth.”
Reflecting on Sumitomo’s history in Egypt, Roshikata highlighted that the company began operations in the country in 2008. Over the past 17 years, he noted, Sumitomo has witnessed “tremendous growth and development” in the Egyptian market. The group now employs around 12,000 workers across its facilities in Port Said, 6th of October City, and 10th of Ramadan.
“Our workforce is the cornerstone of our success,” he said. “We are proud of the talented team we have, and we deeply value their dedication and hard work.”
Roshikata emphasized that products manufactured in Egypt and marked with “Made in Egypt” are shipped daily to international markets, significantly enhancing vehicle performance across Europe and beyond. “These products reflect the core of our industry and highlight the excellence of Egyptian manufacturing,” he said.
Furthermore, the chairman commended the local work ethic, the business environment, and Egypt’s culture of continuous improvement. He reiterated the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities and workforce development, underlining that Sumitomo aspires to be a company known for its contributions to society and the economy.
Speaking directly to Prime Minister Madbouly, Roshikata said: “I deeply appreciate your continued support, which has been fundamental in strengthening the trusted relationship between us. I am committed to reinforcing this bond and ensuring our fruitful cooperation endures.”
He concluded his remarks with optimism for the future: “As we celebrate the opening of this new facility, we also celebrate the bright future ahead. With the dedication of our workforce, the support of our partners, and the cooperation of the Egyptian people, I am confident that Sumitomo will continue to thrive and make a meaningful global impact.”
