US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan welcomed Turkish Foreign Minister (FM) Mevlut Cavusoglu's visit to Cairo and his meeting with Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry.
In press remarks, he also stressed that the visit constitutes "an important step towards a more stable and prosperous region."
On Saturday, Shoukry held talks with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Cairo, in the first such visit after a decade of ruptured ties.
Shoukry and Cavusoglu discussed a range of bilateral and international issues in a step toward restoring normal relations, according to what the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, announced on Twitter.
