Dubravka Šuica, European Commissioner for the Mediterranean, announced that €1.5 billion will be disbursed to Egypt as the second tranche of the European Union’s financial support package, praising the current positive momentum in Egypt-EU relations.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, Šuica noted that the discussions covered the issue of migration and strategies to combat it.
She added, "We are working on establishing a special parliamentary assembly for the Mediterranean region, which will include representatives from various Mediterranean nations."
Joint Efforts on Regional Challenges
For his part, FM stated: "We have agreed to work together to address the mutual challenges we face. Our talks focused on the implementation of the European financial support package for Egypt, and we expect to receive €1.5 billion as part of this support."
