Sudan's Defense Minister, Lt Gen Jamaleldin Omar, has died on Wednesday of a heart attack, while on an official visit to South Sudan, according to Sudanese army spokesman.
Omar was in South Sudan's capital of Juba, taking part in peace negotiations between the government and armed movements. He attended meetings that stretched into late Tuesday and died overnight.
No further information has been released so far.
It is worth mentioning that, Omar was a member of the sovereign council that took power under a 39-month power-sharing agreement with a civilian government after the ouster of former President Omar al-Bashir.
