Sudan's factions at war have agreed to a seven-day ceasefire on Saturday, as the fighting continues to cause chaos and displace over one million people in the country.

The ceasefire is set to begin on Monday at 9:45 pm Khartoum time (1945 GMT), and will be monitored by a joint US-Saudi and internationally-supported mechanism.

The agreement includes provisions for the distribution of humanitarian aid, restoration of essential services, and the withdrawal of forces from hospitals and other critical public facilities.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has urged both sides to uphold the ceasefire and allow unobstructed humanitarian access.
