On Thursday, Sudan's army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan issued a constitutional decree forming a new ruling Sovereign Council with himself as a leader, the state TV said in breaking news.
The formation of the new sovereign council comes after dissolving the joint civilian-military Council.
Burhan had been scheduled to transfer leadership to a civilian this month.
