The Sudanese Foreign Ministry said - in a statement Saturday - that the armed forces confronted the the Rapid Support Forces, and were able to purify their presence in and around the Khartoum International Airport, to ensure the safety of flights and passengers.
The ministry expressed its regret that elements of the RSF stormed and attacked Khartoum International Airport this morning, Saturday, at a time when the airport was receiving a number of international planes and regiments of pilgrims.
It indicated that the attack resulted in the destruction of the Saudi Airlines plane and another Sudanese plane to varying degrees of damages.
"While it regrets the accident, it reassures everyone that there have been no reports of any injuries among travelers and crews working at the airport and aviation."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its regret over the incident, stressing the ability of the military to extend security at airports for flights and passengers.
