President of Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, has underscored the importance of bolstering Sudan's relations with China, emphasizing the need to develop and upgrade these ties to serve the mutual interests of both nations.

According to a statement issued by the Sovereignty Council, al-Burhan directed the advancement of Sudanese-Chinese relations, praising the advanced level already reached between the two friendly countries.

This came during al-Burhan's meeting with Ambassador Omar Issa on the occasion of his farewell following the conclusion of his tenure as Sudan's Ambassador to China, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Muawiya Osman Khalid.

For his part, Issa stated that he received directives from the Council President aimed at upgrading Khartoum-Beijing relations, affirming that the Sudanese-Chinese partnership is a strategic one, enjoying the patronage of the leadership in both countries.

The Ambassador expressed his commitment to exerting maximum effort to develop and strengthen ties with China for the benefit of both peoples. This diplomatic move comes as Sudan faces a severe humanitarian crisis since the outbreak of conflict between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces in April 2023, which has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and the displacement or seeking of refuge for nearly 13 million people.
