The Secretary of the Sudanese Medical Association, Dr. Atiya Abdullah, warned of the collapse of the health system in Sudan as a result of the conflict, adding that Sudan is on the verge of famine, in addition to the poor humanitarian conditions there.
He said that children are the groups most affected by the conflict in Sudan, stressing the high number of victims among children and pregnant mothers as a result of the conditions the country is going through.
Dr. Abdullah added that the lack of safe corridors constitutes a great difficulty in delivering medical aid to hospitals.
He pointed out that campaigns to vaccinate children with vaccines against some diseases have completely stopped due to the conflict in the country, explaining that vaccinations are threatened with harm as a result of the continuous power outages in the country.
He explained that there are 12,000 cases of kidney failure in Sudan and that the lack of medicines and aid makes them vulnerable to death, stressing that the central medical supplies are out of service and cannot be reached.
