In a special statement given on Saturday, Sudan's Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, expressed deep gratitude to Egypt – its government, leadership, and people – for their unwavering support to Sudan and its state institutions, notably the health sector.

Dr. Ibrahim particularly lauded the pivotal role of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in bolstering Sudan on various fronts, aiding the country to circumvent the perils of the ongoing conflict and ensuring continued support for the Sudanese populace.

Highlighting the long-standing Egyptian support to his country, Dr. Ibrahim emphasized the unique position it has secured, especially under President El-Sisi’s stewardship. Various initiatives have been rolled out, aiming to elevate the medical field and public health in Sudan. A prime example is the campaign to eliminate the C virus across all Sudanese states. The ongoing initiatives involve comprehensive training and skill enhancement for Sudanese doctors across various medical specialties. This collaboration encompasses Egypt’s Ministry of Health, Higher Education, and various governmental institutes and hospitals. The training modules, available both in Egypt and Sudan, revolve around cutting-edge medical equipment, surgical operations, radiology, and other state-of-the-art medical systems. Egypt remains a central figure in training Sudanese physicians and in pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Dr. Ibrahim added, "The collaboration extends to the pharmaceutical realm, relying heavily on Egyptian medications and the burgeoning Egyptian pharmaceutical market. Egypt’s pharmaceutical industry has witnessed substantial advancements, recognized globally." He also alluded to several existing agreements with Egypt in this domain. He went on to applaud the exemplary contributions of Hany Salah, the current Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Sudan. Salah has been instrumental in actualizing health cooperation protocols between the two nations, in addition to facilitating numerous pharmaceutical import agreements from Egypt. His relentless efforts in spearheading the Egyptian-Qatari initiative to uplift healthcare in Sudan, which enjoys the backing of the political leadership in all three countries, was particularly noteworthy.
