A significant delegation comprising leaders from the Sudanese Democratic Bloc and other political parties and entities has arrived in Asmara, the capital of Eritrea. The purpose of their visit is to engage in intensive discussions aimed at addressing critical issues related to the ongoing conflict in Sudan. The agenda primarily focuses on efforts to halt the fighting, alleviate the humanitarian crisis, and facilitate dialogue among Sudanese factions.
Nour El-Din Taha, the leader of the Democratic Bloc, stressed the importance of this unprecedented and high-level political gathering, noting that such a meeting had not taken place since April 15th. The discussions aim to tackle crucial matters, make informed decisions regarding the Sudanese crisis, and present a national project that aims to rectify imbalances, bring an end to the conflict, and prevent its recurrence.
Taha emphasized, "Our main priority is to alleviate the humanitarian suffering and put an end to the plight of the Sudanese people once and for all."
Acknowledging the regrettable outcome of the political process outlined in the framework agreement, Taha expressed deep remorse to the Sudanese people, as it had led the country down a path of war, destruction, and displacement instead of peace and prosperity.
Taha revealed that the delegation was scheduled to have a historic meeting with Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki, a prominent freedom fighter. This meeting would provide an opportunity to thoroughly discuss the current situation in Sudan and explore potential solutions to the Sudanese crisis.
Noteworthy leaders within the high-level delegation include Commander Minni Arko Minawi, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, Jaafar Al-Mirghani, the general supervisor of the Hadandawa tribes, Imam Abdul Rahman Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi, Dr. Al-Tijani Sisi, Commander Al-Amin Daoud, Leader Al-Toum Hajo, as well as representatives from various civil society organizations and professional groups.
This diplomatic initiative signifies a concerted effort to bring stability and resolution to the Sudanese crisis, demonstrating a commitment to dialogue and collaboration at the highest levels of leadership.
