Sudanese Army Tightens Siege on Bara as RSF Reportedly Uses Civilians as Human Shields

The Sudanese army has intensified its military operations across North Kordofan, tightening its siege around the city of Bara, which remains under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Reports indicate that the RSF is using civilians as human shields, preventing residents from leaving the besieged city and worsening an already dire humanitarian situation.

The army has launched a series of drone strikes targeting RSF positions in several areas of the Kordofan region, particularly in Al-Fula and Al-Nahoud, destroying multiple vehicles carrying fuel supplies intended for the militia.

In the Blue Nile region, the Sudanese army successfully intercepted an RSF drone attack on the city of Al-Damazin, preventing potential losses or damage.

The situation on the ground suggests the likelihood of intensified clashes in the coming hours, as both sides continue to mobilize forces near El-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan.

Meanwhile, conditions in El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, remain critical. RSF fighters are reportedly blocking civilians from fleeing and committing serious abuses against residents. Many have fled toward Tawila Camp and the northern town of Al-Dabba seeking safety.

The escalating violence highlights the deepening humanitarian crisis in Sudan, as the army and RSF continue to battle for territorial control nearly two years after the outbreak of the devastating conflict that has displaced millions across the country.
