The Sudanese army, backed by allied joint forces, has retaken the strategic border city of Al-Tina in West Darfur following intense fighting with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), according to Al Qahera News.

Al-Tina holds strategic importance due to its location along the border with Chad, allowing movement in multiple directions and its proximity to the tri-border area near Libya. Control of the city is seen as providing the army with a tactical advantage as it seeks to reclaim the wider Darfur region.

The clashes were described as fierce, culminating in the army regaining control of the city. Reports indicated that hundreds of RSF fighters withdrew toward Chadian territory during the confrontations, with sporadic exchanges reported along the border. There has been no official confirmation regarding the number of casualties.

The recapture of Al-Tina is expected to strengthen the army’s operational position in Darfur, where significant areas remain contested amid the protracted conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF.
