Today, the Sudanese Armed Forces said that its forces were ambushed by Ethiopian forces and militias during a security patrol in the border region.

The Armed Forces added "During the return of our forces from scanning the area around Jabal Abu Tayyour, inside our lands, they were ambushed by Ethiopian forces and militias inside a Sudanese territory, as a result, there were losses in lives and equipment," noting that the attack took place on Tuesday.

The Sudanese Forces stated, "They will continue to protect the country and its people, stressing that they can counter any hostile movements inside the country and will not allow its lands to be invaded."

The Sudanese army did not specify how many of its soldiers were killed, and residents said that the authorities had sent reinforcements to the area, which is part of Al-Fashaqa, where some Ethiopian refugees were crossing into Khartoum.

The Military Media Center indicated that it has been monitoring and following up the events in Ethiopia and its consequences on Khartoum, represented by the influx of refugees and a state of instability on the borders between the two countries.

It also added that "The armed forces have taken several measures, including allowing Ethiopian refugees to enter Sudan and allowing humanitarian organizations to play their role, in addition to the armed forces redeploying and opening up areas within the borders of Khartoum."
