The Sudanese government denied, on Monday, what was reported during the past few days about its approval of the second filling of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

The Sudanese government said, in statements to Al-Arabiya TV, that it had set four conditions for accepting the Congo initiative to reach an agreement with Ethiopia.

Any agreement on the GERD issue must be built on the previous agreements and must be time-bound, the government emphasized, noting that those agreements have nothing to do with the issue of sharing Nile waters.

Also, it affirmed that it is fully coordinating positions with Egypt on the file.

In the same context, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and had a serious discussion over the GERD issue.

“During their meeting today, Shoukry suggested that it is time for Egypt to reinvigorate ties with the U.S and called for top leaders from both countries to deliberate on this,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported Monday.
