A member of the Sudan's Sovereignty Council, Siddiq Tawer, hailed Egypt's role towards his country, and its keenness to make the transitional period a success.

His remarks came during a meeting with the Egyptian Ambassador to Sudan Hossam Issa at his office in the Presidential Palace in Khartoum.

He also praised what he described as the advanced level of relations between Sudan and Egypt, and the continuous coordination between them in all fields.

On his part, the Egyptian ambassador in Khartoum confirmed that his meeting with Tawer discussed prospects for joint cooperation between the Egypt and Sudan in the development, educational and humanitarian fields.

The meeting also dealt with boosting coordination, especially at regional issues of mutual concern, indicating a complete congruence of views on all the issues discussed.

The ambassador stressed the importance of security integration and the stability of the two countries, as a key for the region stability.

The Egyptian army had held a joint air training in mid-November with the Sudanese forces at the Sudanese "Meroe" air base, and the training was the first between the two countries.
