It is safe for people who want to get their flu vaccines with their ongoing COVID-19 vaccine shots as there are no any expected negative impacts on the immune system, Reuters cited a new study on Thursday.
It is expected that the UK, and whole Europe would see a harsh winter season which could lead to a new surge in COVID-19, and flu infections, therefore, Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his government pledged to rollout the biggest flu vaccination campaign in the history.
In addition, the kingdom started giving booster shots from COVID-19 vaccine to medical staff members, and elder people.
Conducted by the University of Bristol, the study observed the impacts of three flue vaccines and three kinds of COVID-19 vaccines including Pfizer, and AstraZeneca.
The chief investigator of the study Rajeka Lazarus said: "This is a really positive step which could mean fewer appointments for those who require both vaccines."
He added: "The results of this study have been presented to the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization (JCVI) for their consideration and will aid policy makers in planning the future of these important vaccination programs."
The both vaccines shot were given to the participants on the same day, but each shot was given in different arm, however, two groups of the participants were given the two vaccines in two successive days.
Therefore, the study highlighted that 97% of participants who received the two vaccines on different two days expressed that they would be willing to receive them in one visit only.
679 volunteers at 12 spots in England and Wales were involved in the study.
