A new research paper dealt with the relationship between poverty and death, and its results were published in the latest issue of the "Journal of the American Medical Association".
The study proved poverty is one of the leading factors contributing to an increase in deaths by about 183,000 people in the United States of America (USA) in 2019 among people aged 15 years and over.
The researchers emphasized that poverty is the fourth leading cause of death in the United States after heart disease, cancer, and smoking, according to an analysis issued by the University of California Medical School in the United States.
The researchers believed that poverty is more deadly than obesity, diabetes, drug abuse, suicides, gunshot deaths, and homicides.
David Brady, a professor of public policy at the University of California, said in a press release: "Poverty kills a number equivalent to deaths from accidents, stroke, Alzheimer's, and diabetes."
