A recently published study reported that China and the United States, the two largest emitters of greenhouse gases, cost the global economy more than $3 trillion, which forms the basis for potential litigation.

Researchers from Dartmouth College in the United States of America (USA) found in their study, according to the American newspaper "The Hill", that five of the world's largest emitters - the United States, China, India, Russia, and Brazil - cost the world about $6 trillion in the gross domestic product (GDP) over a quarter of a century.

The researchers noted that the two largest emitters, China and the United States, each accounted for more than $1.8 trillion in lost global income from 1990 to 2014.
