Strong Storms Killed 8 People, Cut Power to 1.4 Million Homes in USA

US authorities announced that at least eight people were killed and millions were without power due to storms that led to tornadoes and heavy rains across regions in the southern United States.

The National Weather Service said the powerful storms are moving to the northeast and will cause heavy snowfall from southeastern Michigan into New York state areas of central New York and southern New England could see more than 30 centimeters of snow by noon today (Saturday).

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said at least two tornadoes caused by the storm hit the western part of his state on Friday. He added on social media that at least three people had died in the bad weather, but gave no other details.

In addition to hurricanes, Beshear indicated that thunderstorms in Kentucky raised winds of 128.75 kilometers per hour.

Power Outage data reported that power was cut off from more than 1.4 million homes and establishments in the states affected by the storm.
