Today is 11 November or 11/11 which marks the world-famed Singles' Day.

The story behind the singles' day started from China as it marks the biggest season of sales dedicated to those who are unmarried.

Its mood doesn't carry a big difference from the American Black Friday but Black Friday is connected somehow to Thanksgiving and the beginning of the Christmas season globally.

Singles' Day is a Chinese holiday that originated from Nanjing University to be a special day for single people. The date consists of four “ones”, representing four singles as an anti-Valentine's stream.

It was originally called Bachelor’s Day due to how four male college students decided on this day to celebrate the idea of being single. This strange event started to spread between universities till it was involved in the mainstream culture.

Story Behind Worldwide Singles' Day

As China is known for its economic force, the worldwide Alibaba decided to support the idea by marking it a special sale season mainly through E-Commerce and Online shopping platforms.

According to Forbes, "In 2017, Alibaba Group, a multinational e-commerce conglomerate in retail and manufacturing, earned over $25 billion in sales, beating the previous record of $17.6 billion in 2016. This event is four times the size of America’s biggest shopping days, Black Friday and Cyber Monday."

This year, China brings notable names to stream and buy their products as Taylor Swift's late release "Folklore".

Finally, there is nothing bad to be single as the idea of being single is developed to be more into self-acceptance and self-development.

A final fact about Singles' Day celebrations that many cities around the world start to organize parties to allow single persons to communicate and maybe they won't be single anymore.
