Over 60,000 homes in the Czech Republic have been left without electricity following severe storms that swept across the region, according to reports from Czech news agencies on Saturday.
The Czech News Agency reported that the worst-affected area is the Ústí nad Labem region in the northwest, near the border with Germany.
More than 20,000 homes experienced temporary power outages due to fallen trees blocking power lines amidst strong winds.
Heavy rainfall has also affected neighboring Poland, leading to rising water levels in many rivers and streams, and causing flooding in certain areas.
In the village of Syrova Neva, located in eastern Czechia, authorities have evacuated approximately 40 people as a precaution.
Access to the village of Vesinova, about 50 kilometers south of Prague, is now limited to heavy-duty firefighting vehicles due to waterlogged roads.
The storm has also disrupted train services, with trees falling onto several railway lines.
