Stoltenberg: NATO Won’t Join Asian Countries during Next Years

Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO),  confirmed that the Western alliance will remain a federation of European and North American countries only, and will not accept Asian countries in its ranks, Russia Today (RT) reported.

"NATO will remain an alliance of North America and Europe, and will not become a global alliance with members from Asia, and our security guarantees include NATO's territory," Stoltenberg said in an interview with The Washington Post.

The Japanese newspaper Nikkei reported, quoting representatives of the Japanese government and "NATO", that the alliance intends to open a liaison office in Tokyo in 2024, and joint documents on strengthening cooperation with Japan in the field of security will confirm coordination in the field of cyberspace and outer space in combating misinformation.
