A multilateral summit of leaders from the United States, eight Arab states, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states was held at the United Nations Headquarters on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting was convened at the initiative of U.S. President Donald Trump.
The meeting was hosted by President Trump and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, and was joined by King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein of Jordan, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey, Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia, Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia.
During the meeting, the leaders of the Arab and OIC states highlighted the dire situation in Gaza, including the humanitarian catastrophe and massive human losses, its dire consequences for the region, and its repercussions for the Muslim world as a whole.
They reaffirmed their shared rejection of forced displacement and the need to allow the return of displaced persons.
The leaders emphasized the need to end the war and achieve an immediate ceasefire that guarantees the release of hostages and allows adequate humanitarian aid to enter as a first step toward a just and lasting peace.
They emphasized the need to develop a detailed plan for stabilization, ensuring stability in the West Bank and the holy sites in Jerusalem, and expressed their support for the Palestinian Authority's reform efforts.
The participants emphasized the need to ensure a comprehensive plan for the reconstruction of Gaza, based on the Arab Peace Plan and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Plan, as well as security arrangements, with international support that supports the Palestinian leadership.
They expressed their commitment to working together to ensure the success of these plans and to rebuild the lives of Palestinians in Gaza.
The participants also emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum to ensure that this meeting marks the beginning of a process on the right path toward a future of peace and regional cooperation.
