The office of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer reported that he discussed the issue of Greenland and the interception of the sanctioned oil tanker "Bella 1" during a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Downing Street, the headquarters of the British government, announced that Keir Starmer clarified his position regarding Greenland during the call.

A spokesperson for the Prime Minister stated that this stance was reflected in a joint statement issued on Tuesday, in which European allies, including the UK, reaffirmed that "Greenland belongs to its people. Decisions regarding Denmark and Greenland are for them alone to make."

The spokesperson also noted that the call included a discussion on the interception of the oil tanker "Bella 1," also known as the "Marinera."

The operation involved U.S. and British military forces as part of joint efforts to combat sanctions evasion.

Additionally, the two leaders discussed recent progress regarding Ukraine and the U.S. military operation in Venezuela.

Concerns regarding potential U.S. actions toward Greenland have intensified following the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro during a U.S. raid in Caracas.
